historian passed away in her ninetieth year. A founding member of the Castletown Foundation, in recent years when she retired to Donegal she had become a Patron of the Foundation. Her fellow directors remember with gratitude the many years of devoted work that she gave to Castletown –  working on its restoration, securing and expanding the collections and developing the  presentation of the 18th century rooms. Her generous gift of Irish glass and tableware is commemorated on the donor boards erected in Castletown in 2015. Meanwhile her exemplary scholarship often completed in collaboration with another former director of the foundation, the Knight of Glin lives on as a fitting monument to her important contribution to Irish cultural and academic life.
